Cuvee are based in Victoria, Australia and make small batch chocolate bars that can be paired with wines. On their website you can follow their 'Art of Chocolate Matching' wine and chocolate tasting and see how it is done. We seem to be having an alcohol infused February, so we were keen to try the Cuvee Rum and Raisin recommended to us by Luke from The Chocolate Bar in New Zealand. What you notice first off with the chocolate is the luxurious packaging. This feels right away like a very special treat. Yes we have kept the box. Cuvee Rum & Raisin Special Edition is 75% Tanzania Cocoa Beans and Barbados Rum. It is a 70g bar. When you snap it open, you can see the filling. We like how it is sandwiched inside, rather than mixed all in. The aroma is fruity. The fruity chocolate complements the raisin filling so well when tasting. The rum is a behind the scenes note. It does not have a strong presence at all.
The sandwiched filling made this bar and enjoyable bite. Johanan is not so much a fan of fruit in chocolate, but he enjoyed being able to taste the chocolate just as much as the filling. Joni claimed the bar pretty much after the first bite and ate the rest. Being a fan of fruit, chocolate and rum, it was always going to be a hit with her. We were expecting more of a rum hit, but this bar was very enjoyable.
