Trade Aid chocolate is made in Christchurch New Zealand by the Sweet Justice Chocolate Factory. They use organic ingredients from the Dominican Republic, Peru and Paraguay. Trade Aid organic chocolate is guaranteed fair trade, is gluten, soy and palm oil free, and has compostable packaging. From the Rotorua Trade Aid shop we bought: Rich Milk Chocolate 40% 200g for $6.99 Salt Toffee Crisp 70% 100g for $4.99 Dark Raspberry 55% 100g for $4.99 TRADE AID ORGANIC FAIR TRADE RICH MILK CHOCOLATE Cocoa Solids 40% Milk Solids 25% Sugars per serving size of 20g is 10.2g The aroma is very milky with faint cocoa. There is a slow medium melt in the mouth. The taste is more sugar than chocolate. The aftertaste has more chocolate. TRADE AID ORGANIC FAIR TRADE DARK RASPBERRY CHOCOLATE Cocoa Solids 55% Sugars per 20g serving size is 8.9g The fragrance is cocoa. The taste is strong raspberry and you can taste a little bit of the chocolate along with it. You are left with an aftertaste of chocolate. TRADE AID ORGANIC FAIR TRADE SALT TOFFEE CRISP CHOCOLATE Cocoa Solids 70%
Sugars per 20g serving size is 6.9g There is a cocoa fragrance. The taste is slightly salty with a crunch from the toffee bits. The dark chocolate taste is also there which is slightly fruity. FINAL THOUGHTS We really wanted to like this chocolate because it is great what they do. We found the 70% salt toffee a bit of an average chocolate. The dried raspberry was nice in the 55%. This was probably the best one. The Milk Chocolate was quite bland. If you wanted to support the Trade Aid organisation, then chocolate is a nice way to do it. We would go for the raspberry above the others.
